American Heart Association

CPR dates back to 1740 and yet, even today most Americans do not know how to perform it. More than 90% of victims of sudden cardiac arrest die before reaching the hospital. Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at anytime, including children and high school athletes.

Many of these victims appear healthy with no known heart disease or other risk factors. Knowing how to properly perform CPR can double or triple the victim's chance of survival.
